  2. Who knew you reviewed movies. When are you going to review a real movie like Rio Grande or She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. Enough with this horror crap, let's talk about the classics.

  3. trooper: Do you like "The Cowboys?" I think it's the only Wayne western where he gets killed...

    I'm a Leone fan myself...

  4. The Cowboys is not the only film in which the Duke dies. He actually dies in nine of his movies. My favorite is the Wake of the Red Witch where I believe he is killed by a giant squid.

  5. Best John Wayne movie, The Quiet Man, followed by Hondo, and then She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Fort Apache and the Angel and the Badman. Just my picks of course. A lot of buffs prefet The Searchers and Red River, both great flicks, but we all have our favorites.

  6. But if you enjoy westerns, don't miss the work of Walter Hill especially The Long Riders, one of the best and most accurate depictions of the James Gang. They used brothers to play the outlaws, just as was true in real life. A treat if it comes on cable.Great Ry Cooder score. David Carridine has his best role ever as Cole Younger. Not to be missed.

  7. Yes, The Long Riders is great! I don't like The Searchers, but do like Red River and Stagecoach!

    Do you like The Shootist?

  8. You guys are taking the easy way out. If I'm gonna review a classic western, it's gonna be The Searchers.
