Treadmill Desk, Day 16

0 minutes again today. It just seemed smart, since the feeling is coming back to my feet.

I haven't lost any weight, for what that matters. I'm eating more, though. I'm hungry quite a bit.

That's not my primary interest: Mobility is definitely improving. Before I started, I could actually move pretty well after I warmed up, but I'm starting faster and getting stiff slower. That's progress.

  1. I just skimmed your blog. You're not as bad or as rabid as you appear elsewhere.

  2. FYI I am going to bed...we can continue the Althouse thread later. I am not, by the way, an Obama fan.

  3. I'm not suggesting you are; I don't think it's all that relevant to the discussion. Not only that, I don't think there's anything wrong with being an Obama fan.

When you get down to it, we're all working a great deal of highly imperfect intuition.

  5. knox,

Yeah. Heh. I averaged about 5-6 per day on the previous days.

That was too sharp a gradient from zero, or even from the 2-3 hours I'd been doing on the previous two weeks.

But I'm accustomed to extremes, so I pushed through what I thought was minor discomfort, figuring it would go away over time.

The subsequent numbness, though, suggested an ergonomic problem.

So I've backed off, even though my legs seem to be able to take the exercise, since some of the weaker supporting muscles are shifting the stress to my back, ankles, etc.

Grab an umbrella. Unleash hell. Your mileage may vary. Results not typical. If swelling continues past four hours, consult a physician.
